Dec. 7, 2018
ALP said selling the business will allow it to focus on, and invest in, its LexaLite injection molded lighting optics business.

LED components manufacturer ALP Lighting Components, Niles, IL, has sold its plastic extrusion business to longtime supplier partner Plaskolite, Columbus, OH. Plaskolite acquired ALP’s extruded smooth and patterned lighting sheet and extruded profile lens product lines, as well as select related manufacturing equipment.

“Our relationship with Plaskolite and the Dunn family extends back to the formation of ALP. This transaction meets our “win-win-win” business standard, in that it benefits ALP, Plaskolite and our customers,” said Steve Brown, CEO of ALP, in a release.  “It enhances ALP’s ability to build on its market leadership in other product areas and to invest in growth opportunities for the future.”

ALP said selling the business will allow it to focus on, and invest in, its LexaLite injection molded lighting optics business. Near term plans include adding injection molding to the company’s Monterrey, Mexico facility and upgrading equipment to enhance edgelit panel production capabilities at its Charlevoix, MI plant.
