June 7, 2019
The companies are among market leaders in design and manufacturing of animal-centric lighting.

Lighting manufacturing giant Signify, Eindhoven, the Netherlands, moved to expand its offerings for agricultural lighting with a deal to acquire two manufacturers of lighting for livestock operations. Once Inc., based in Plymouth, MN, and iLOX, based in Vechta, Germany, are among market leaders in design and manufacturing of animal-centric lighting.

“With this acquisition, we add know-how, technology and expertise in animal lighting that complements ours in horticulture lighting,” said Bill Bien, Signify’s Agriculture business leader. “We are very pleased to partner with the teams of Once and iLOX to combine our innovations to capture growth.”

Once Inc., founded in 2009, had signed an agreement last year to acquire Germany-based iLOX, adding sales and service capabilities outside the US. The acquisition of both by Signify will give the companies more resources for serving the livestock market.

“We are excited to become part of Signify. The potential market is young and growing and we look forward to working together to further improve animal welfare and farmers’ production,” said Zdenko Grajcar, CEO and founder of Once.
