China's struggling solar industry

An AP report today said the Chinese government will encourage manufacturers of photovoltaic panels to merge to strengthen the company’s solar industry, which is suffering from excess capacity and price cutting. The AP article said the Chinese government plans to “encourage mergers, reduce government support for the industry and block local leaders from supporting domestic producers… Some producers might be allowed to go bankrupt.”
