Energy storage system installations leapt 126% in the second quarter this year, compared with Q1, with 41.2 megawatts (MW) of storage deployed nationwide according to a quarterly report from Greentech Media (GTM) Research. Year-over-year, deployments were up just 1%. Behind-the-meter deployments, which consist of residential and commercial energy storage systems, grew 66% year-over-year. The report attributes this success to improving economics and adoption in new state markets. GTM Research forecasts 287MW of energy storage in 2016.
