GE Partners with Schindler to Add Elevators, Escalators to IoT

Schindler will use GE’s Predix industrial software platform and advanced analytics to enable its customers to monitor, analyze and leverage data generated from its connected elevators, escalators and PORT Technology.

GE’s newish GE Digital business, based in San Ramon, Calif., announced a strategic alliance with elevator and escalator manufacturer Schindler Holding, based in Hergiswil, Switzerland, that will apply the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT) to digital innovations in elevators, escalators and smart buildings. Schindler will use GE’s Predix industrial software platform and advanced analytics to enable its customers to monitor, analyze and leverage data generated from its connected elevators, escalators and PORT Technology.

“GE and Schindler can deliver premium digital solutions powering urban mobility. Leveraging the Predix industrial operating system, Schindler is positioned to be a digital industrial leader in the elevator and escalator business,” said Jeffrey Immelt, GE’s chairman and CEO, in a release.
