Leviton Manufacturing Co., Melville, N.Y., has been awarded a $1 million grant to install electric vehicle charging stations across the state of New York in support of a “Charge NY” initiative led by the state's governor. Leviton will put its Evr-Green Dual Port Level 2 Charging Stations at various workplaces throughout Upstate New York, New York City and Long Island.
“Leviton is thrilled to expand our electric vehicle charging station presence and encourage sustainable fuel solutions in Long Island and throughout New York State,” said Michael Mattei, vice president and general manager for Leviton's Commercial and Industrial business unit.
Designed and engineered in the United States, the Leviton charging stations enable fast charging of any SAE J1772 compatible electric vehicle.
The total $3.6 million project, with funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New York Power Authority (NYPA), seeks to build a network of 3,000 public and workplace charging stations across the state over the next five years.
