AD's new electrical leader; Colson of Quanta and Wald of Fulham to step down; Stein named executive VP at Border States, plus some new branch managers; Salter joins Shat-R-Shield; and more.

Affiliated Distributors (AD) Wayne, Pa.: John Eggleton will become president of Affiliated Distributors’ U.S. Electrical Division effective April 8, replacing David Oldfather, who after nine years is leaving A-D to pursue other endeavors. Eggleton comes to A-D after serving for 10 years as CEO of A-D’s sister company, supplyFORCE.

Bill Weisberg, A-D chairman and CEO, said in the press release announcing the appointment, “John brings a great mix of leadership, humility, operational experience, sales and negotiation experience, managerial skills and customer care. We are fortunate to be welcoming someone that has such a perfect set of skills for this position and such a deep understanding of our group and its culture. John’s passion for the cause of independents and his collaborative team-oriented approach to business will be well received by our members and suppliers.”

“David Oldfather’s nine-year tenure at the helm of the Electrical Division brought foundational stability and growth opportunities that will continue to flourish under John’s leadership. We wish David the best in his future endeavors.

Border States Electric (BSE) (Fargo, N.D.): Jason Stein is now executive V.P. He joined BSE in May 1995 as a management trainee and has worked in various positions including product manager, automation account manager, Northwest region industrial sales manager and director of sales. In April 2010, he was named vice president sales and was appointed to the company’s executive council. Most recently he was the vice president northwest region. In addition, he will join the company’s senior leadership team.

In other news at the company, Jason King has been named branch manager for BSE’s St. Cloud, Minn., location and Cody Morris has been named branch manager for the company’s Gillette, Wyo. branch. King began his career in June 2005 working for Minnesota Electric as a warehouse associate, and he joined BSE in April 2007 when the company acquired Minnesota Electric. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota.

Morris began his career with Miller Electric in Dec. 1999 working in the warehouse and city desk. He joined BSE in November 2004 when the company acquired Miller Electric. He previously held positions as warehouse manager, inside sales, and most recently, contractor account manager.

Quanta Services Inc. (Houston): John Colson, the company’s founder and executive chairman, will retire as executive chairman of the board of directors at the annual stockholders’ meeting on May 23. Colson founded Quanta Services in 1997 and has served as executive chairman of the board of directors since May 2011. He previously served as chairman of the board from 2002 to May 2011 and as CEO from December 1997 to May 2011. He joined PAR Electrical Contractors Inc., an electrical specialty contractor and one of Quanta’s founding operating units, in 1971 and served as its president from 1991 until December 1997.

Crescent Electric Supply (East Dubuque, Ill.): Christina Eisbach has joined the company as manager, marketing and communications. She will manage the graphic services group and coordinate and produce corporate and field marketing materials. She has 17-plus years of experience in business-to-business and business-to-consumer advertising, design and marketing, and before coming to Crescent Electric operated her own graphic design studio in Galena, Ill.

Fulham Co. Inc. (Hawthorne, Calif.): After nearly 20 years of stewardship, Brian Wald, the company’s founder, CEO and president, plans to transition from his current role to one of governance and policy development as a member of Fulham’s board of directors.

According to a press release announcing the transition, Wald’s decision was made possible through the successful migration of day-to-day responsibilities to top senior executives uniquely qualified to handle the needs of Fulham’s growing business across innovative, new products such as controllable induction, controllable HID, controllable LED and controllable fluorescent lighting systems. “Global demand for Fulham’s products is at an all time high,” says Wald. “Thus, no better time to turn over the reins.”

Shat-R-Shield (Salisbury, N.C.): Tom Salter has joined the company as V.P. of marketing. He spent the last 15 years at Cree with roles in engineering, business development and marketing. Among his new duties will be the marketing of Shat-R-Shield’s recently introduced waterproof, safety-coated LED lamps.
