Atkore International Group Inc., Harvey, IL, has acquired the assets of United Structural Products, LLC (USP), Atlanta, a manufacturer of welded aluminum and engineered-to-order cable trays. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

USP will continue operating at their current location under their flagship brand US Tray. USP co-owners Dana Black and Tom Meredith will remain with the company.

USP cable trays, built per NEMA standards and certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), will go to market alongside Atkore’s main Cope cable-tray brand. Cope’s offerings of cable management solutions include a full array of metallic and non-metallic cable tray, including ladder tray, channel tray, wire basket tray and I-beam tray, along with a full portfolio of accessories, used in both power and datacom applications. USP emphasizes its custom cable tray solutions along with tray covers and accessories.

“The acquisition of USP is consistent with Atkore’s statements on pursuing complementary acquisitions in support of the company’s strategic growth plan. This transaction strengthens Atkore’s position as a leader in the cable tray industry,” said Peter Lariviere, president of Atkore’s Cable Solutions business unit. “Atkore’s focus on serving customers is further enhanced with a comprehensive range of cable management solutions under the market-recognized brands of Cope and US Tray.”

Last September, Atkore announced its acquisition of Vergokan International NV, a Belgium-based manufacturer of cable tray and cable ladder systems, underfloor installations and industrial floor trunking that serves industrial, power and energy, commercial and infrastructure sectors in more than 45 countries.
