Blue Diamond Industries preps for move and expansion
Conduit manufacturer Blue Diamond Industries, LLC, Middlesboro, Ky., has purchased a nine acre site, including three buildings totaling 75,000 square feet, in Middlesboro, where the company plans to relocate its existing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit production equipment and add new production lines in an expansion that had been planned for 2015.
In Feb. 2015, the area was hit by a series of winter storms that caused the collapse of parts of the Blue Diamond plant. The offices, laboratory, maintenance and expansion area were totaled. Production resumed in March after inspection by engineers and the addition of temporary facilities to relocate support activities. Now the move to a new location a mile away will set the stage for future growth. Jody Cosby, plant manager, estimates the move will begin in about eight weeks.
