VEC Supply, Charlottesville, Va., a distributor of datacom, security and industrial automation products, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of American Electronic Supply Co., a distributor of datacom, security, audio-visual and cable television products based in Birmingham, Ala. The deal is expected to close by Aug. 20. Under the terms of the agreement, American Electronic Supply Co. (AESC) will operate as a stand-alone division of VEC and will continue to support its existing customers in the Alabama marketplace.
“We’re excited to bring American Electronic Supply into the VEC family,” Frank Stalzer, VEC’s president said in a press release. “Ted Self and his team have built a wonderful business over the past 33 years and we plan to continue the team’s fine tradition of providing outstanding service and support to our customers and vendors. This acquisition brings our total branch count to eight and we plan to continue to grow our business both organically and through acquisitions in the months and years ahead.”
VEC maintains stocking sales branches in Lynchburg, Roanoke, Richmond, Raleigh (2), Greensboro and now, Birmingham. In addition, the company maintains an on-line distribution business operating under the banner www.DirectDatacom.com. The company was ranked #199 on Electrical Wholesaling 2014 Top 200 ranking, with $12,700,000 in 2013 sales and 26 employees.
