Metals warehouse bottlenecks now affecting beer

It's bad enough that metals warehouses have been driving up delivery fees and wait times for wire companies to obtain copper, but now it's starting to cause problems for another sector dear to many of us ... beer!

The Wall Street Journal has a piece today (subscription required) about the Beer Institute lodging a complaint with the London Metals Exchange about wait times and delivery fees for the aluminum they need to make beer cans. This is the same problem, often in the same warehouses, mentioned by former United Copper Industries CEO Andy Blanchard in a recent Electrical Marketing article

If the beer folks can't get this problem fixed (maybe buy the warehouse managers a pint?), then it's hard to know how the problem gets solved. Stay tuned.
