Schneider Electric teams up with Pavegen to harvest energy from runners at Paris Marathon

rom Bloomberg comes a report of one of the more innovative energy-producing ideas I have heard in quite some time. Schneider Electric the main sponsor for the upcoming Paris Marathon, is working with Pavegen, a manufacturer of tiles that harvest kinetic energy from the footsteps of people walking -- or running -- across them. Schneider is betting that the 40,000 runners expected to run the 26.2-mile race on April 7 will produce a fair amount of juice, and according to this Bloomberg article will donate approximately $12,850 to charity if runners produce 7kW of electricity.
