Legrand Presses Further into Lighting Control with Acquisition of CP Electronics

June 2, 2016
Legrand, Limoges, France, has purchased CP Electronics, London, UK, a manufacturer of lighting control systems and other electrical equipment.

Electrical and diversified products manufacturer Legrand, Limoges, France, has purchased CP Electronics, London, UK, a manufacturer of lighting control systems and other electrical equipment.

Legrand said in announcing the deal that CP Electronics complements the company’s existing offerings for the commercial market in the UK. CP Electronics primarily concentrates on electrical control equipment including programmable lighting controls, motion detectors, time switches, sensors, dimmers and HVAC controls.

CP Electronics also adds to Legrand's overhead cable management systems, busbars and floor boxes, which it acquired in the purchase of Electrak in 2008.

CP Electronics adds to Legrand’s presence in energy-efficient lighting control, particularly its Wattstopper business in the United States.

CP Electronics has over 180 employees and reports annual sales of over €30 million ($33.5 million) with around 90% of its sales coming from the UK market.

CP Electronics will form part of a newly created energy controls business unit, run by the CP Electronics management team reporting to Tony Greig, CEO of Legrand Electric, Legrand’s UK business unit.
