Mayer Electric Supply Co., Birmingham, Ala., recently announced that it will expand its operations to include a location in Mobile, Ala. The company will acquire Roden Electrical Supply's Mobile branch. The location had previously been known as Matthews Electric Supply prior to being purchased as part of a multi-site acquisition by Roden earlier this year.

"We have wanted to have an operation to serve the customers in Mobile for years and we have finally found what we believe to be just the right timing and operation for us," said Jim Summerlin, president and CEO of Mayer.

The Mobile branch located at 961 Congress Street serves industrial, construction, commercial, and institutional customers with electrical equipment and supplies for new construction, original equipment and manufacturing, and maintenance.

"We are pleased to have been able to work out this agreement with the folks at Roden," Summerlin said. "After assessing the market, product lines, and operational requirements, Roden concluded that the Mobile operation would be better as part of the Mayer organization. With the product lines available, services provided, geographic location, and all of the other tangible and intangible qualities, this will be a great fit for Mayer." The company plans to maintain the local team of eight sales and service associates, said Summerlin.
