Wesco International, Pittsburgh, announced that its Canadian subsidiary has agreed to acquire Hazmasters, Inc., a distributor of safety products and testing services, based in Ajax, Ontario.

Hazmasters distributes safety products to the industrial, construction, commercial, institutional and government markets, generating approximately $80 million in annual revenues from 14 branches across Canada. Among the product categories listed on the Hazmasters website, there are air moving and cleaning; chemicals, cleaners and coatings; fire safety; first aid; gas detection and monitoring; marine safety & rescue; protective gear and test and measurement equipment.

The company began working with abatement contractors, providing personal protective equipment to keep workers safe, according to the site. The company transitioned into the larger area of safety and has remained focused on sharing safety expertise through service and education.

The move strengthens the mix of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) products and services Wesco can offer in the Canadian marketplace. The deal is expected to close this month, Wesco said.
