To mark May’s designation as “electrical safety month,” the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), Arlington, Va., launched its “Buyer Beware” anti-counterfeiting campaign to warn consumers and communities about the dangers that these hazardous products can cause. More than one million counterfeit electrical products, including extension cords, power strips, batteries and hair dryers, have been recalled in recent years. The group has posted recommendations to help consumers spot and avoid counterfeit electrical products on its website at www.electrical-safety.org and through a public relations campaign.
