Electric Lighting Agencies and O'Blaney Rinker Associates, both based in New York, have entered into a joint venture that will combine their lighting and control system specification efforts in the New York metropolitan area. Electric Lighting Agencies Inc. is the oldest and largest commercial lighting manufacturers' rep in the New York metropolitan area, while O'Blaney Rinker Associates is a boutique design alternative lighting agency specializing in architectural lighting and providing service from schematic development through project completion and after-market service.
Founded in 1955, Electric Lighting Agencies has approximately 50 employees in its New York, Fairfield, N.J., and Jericho, N.Y., locations. The company merged with the Encore Sales Agency and Encore Emergency Lighting in 2010. O'Blaney Rinker's team includes lighting veterans James O'Blaney, Caroline Rinker, Diana O'Blaney and David Wallace.
The joint venture expands the current line card of both representatives to commercial lines including Juno Lighting Group, Hubbell Lighting Inc. and Philips Color Kinetics with boutique specialty lines such as Specialty Lighting Industries, Litemakers Inc. and Modular International Inc., in addition to of over 30-plus other manufacturers. Sales offices will remain independently operated, with the O'Blaney Rinker Associates location in New York and Electric Lighting Agencies' three locations in New York, New Jersey and Long Island.
