Top 100 Distributors Remain Optimistic About 2025 Business Conditions Conditions
The early responses to Electrical Wholesaling’s Top 100 survey are in, and despite all the recent noise over tariffs, it looks like the largest distributors in North America are looking for a solid year.
Surprisingly, 37% of the early respondents are forecasting revenue increases of more than +37%. 7% of respondents are looking at flat sales. A third see modest increases of 1% to 5% and 22% are expecting increases of 6% to 9%. According to Electrical Wholesaling historical data the average annual increase for the electrical wholesaling industry is between +6% to +9%.
Despite the optimism on revenue increases, the majority of early Top 100 responders think the chances of a recession in 2025 are more than 50/50, with roughly 65% seeing an even chance of a recession this year. About 13%thought a recession is very likely and roughly 23% said there was little or no chance of a recession.
Electrical Wholesaling also asked Top 100 distributors about which large projects they were supplying, and unsurprisingly, data centers were by far the most common. Here’s a partial list of the projects they mentioned int their surveys:
