Wattstopper and Lumenetix partner on digital lighting applications
In another indication that tunable color is gaining strength as a specification requirement, Legrand’s Wattstopper signed an exclusive license agreement with Lumenetix, San Jose, Calif., a leader in tunable color technology, to combine capabilities to support advanced digital lighting applications. This agreement focuses on Lumenetix’s blanco tunable white technology, a subset of Lumenetix’s araya5 platform, which enables lighting fixture manufacturers and specifiers to address new market demands for high precision dimming and human centric lighting (HCL) systems, said a release.
Legrand said the lighting industry is entering the next phase of LED innovation, moving beyond just energy efficiency and ease of control to new light functionality. Color control, circadian rhythm, and task tuning are emerging as specification requirements with growing opportunities in healthcare, higher education, retail, and residential.
