Cree says new fixture hits 200 lumens/watt target
Jan. 24, 2014
Cree Inc., Durham, N.C., said it has raised the bar for LED lighting again, with a new concept luminaire producing 200 lumens-per-watt. Cree points out in its press release that the U.S. Department of Energy had projected that LED lighting would reach the 200 lm/W range by 2020, putting Cree six years ahead of the curve. The prototype luminaire incorporates innovations in chips, optics, materials technology and system design to produce 3,200 lumens with a color rendering index (CRI) of 80 and a color temperature of 3,000K.
