Science news website Phys.org reported today that Philips Lighting will have its Hue controllable lighting systems fully functional with Apple's new HomeKit home automation system later this year.

Science news website Phys.org reported today that Philips Lighting will have its Hue controllable lighting systems fully functional with Apple's new HomeKit home automation system later this year. Philips was one of the first on board with a rival smart home offering from Nest Labs, owned by Google. Five companies including lighting control giant Lutron announced their offerings for the HomeKit system last week.

"Your existing Philips Hue lights will work seamlessly and any necessary upgrade to the system will be fully supported," said Philips.
