Researchers at Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) in Munich, Germany, are working with BMW engineers to develop a new kind of electrical connection that seeks to use aluminum's typical disadvantages in connections to their advantage. The idea is to find a way to replace copper with aluminum for vehicle electrical systems to reduce weight and costs. Interesting research with possible applications elsewhere.
