Quanta gets PV contracts

Quanta Services Inc. (PWR), Houston, has been awarded two contracts from Avenal Solar Holdings LLC to construct two solar power facilities -- 20MW Sun City project and the 19MW Sand Drag project in California. The construction work is expected to be over by the first calendar quarter of 2011. Last month, the California Public Utilities Commission approved 20-year power purchase agreements under which Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) will buy electricity produced by the solar power plants. The power generated by the new solar facilities will be transported throughout high load areas in California. When operating at full capacity, the projects are expected to produce enough renewable energy to power approximately 31,000 homes. Details
