The New York Times has a piece up today on the retro cool of "exposed-fillament" incandescent lightbulbs (by which we think they mean lamps with clear glass enclosures) in the hip gathering spots of New York City. The writing's on the wall for incandescents for general purpose lighting - compact fluorescents won't kill them but legislation and eventually the versatility and efficiency of LEDs will - but for many there will always be a warm spot for the little heat source that gives off a little light and changed the world.
