For your Monday afternoon, here's another look at the far-flung potential of LED lighting, this time in very small, very flexible applications. This may not be the kind of thing even the most progressive electrical channel pioneers will ever get involved in, but it's fun seeing the mind-boggling ways LED technology is being applied.
An article from Carl Holm on ABC Science (ABC in this case is the Australian Broadcasting Corp.) explores medical applications of LEDs being developed:
"Perhaps the most important applications will be in medicine. LED arrays could be implanted to activate photosensitive classes of drugs, detect infection and monitor, or even accelerate, wound-healing. Light-emitting sutures are another application being tested in the laboratory."
