Rexel got some good news recently when Fortune magazine named it one of the “World's Most Admired Companies” in a recent survey. The Paris-based company ranked fourth in the “Wholesalers: Diversified” category, up from tenth in 2011, and also led its industry in the ranking for global competitiveness. Rexel ranked seventh among the 28 French companies selected to the list. The results from Fortune's “World's Most Admired Companies” survey were published in the March issue.

According to a press release announcing the honor Rudy Provoost, chairman of the management board and CEO, said, “We are delighted and honored by this recognition and it is a tribute to the dedication and quality work of our teams worldwide.” Chris Hartmann, executive V.P. and CEO of Rexel Holdings USA, said in the release, “This acknowledgement from Fortune, one of the most respected business media outlets in the country, confirms that Rexel's unwavering commitment to our customers and our employees is making a difference.”

Rexel Holdings USA has annual sales of more than $3.5 billion, 5,000 employees and 300 branches throughout the U.S. Its corporate parent had 2011 sales of €12.7 billion (approximately US$16.6 billion) through its operations in 37 countries, which include 2,100 branches, and 28,000 employees.
