Siemens sees U.S. sales increase 26% in 2Q 2012

Although Siemens' international sales are getting hammered in 2012 by soft business conditions around the globe, the company had a real sweet quarter in the U.S., based in part on a $10 million order for its drive systems and motors to to replace existing equipment at the SSAB Americas' plate and steckel mill in Montpelier, Iowa., and a $73 million contract to build 18 of its S70 light rail vehicles for the city of Portland, Ore.
