Construction Projects to Watch in Early 2021

Jan. 21, 2021

Although it’s been a tough year for the construction market, Electrical Marketing’s editors still found a surprising number of high-profile construction projects across the United States that either recently broke ground or will in the near future. They will provide electrical manufacturers, distributors, reps, electrical contractors and the design community with plenty of electrical construction potential in 2021.

The $4-billion mixed-use National Landing project to be constructed near Amazon’s HQ2 headquarters across the Potomac River from Washington, DC, and the $1-billion Potomac Yard project to be built near Reagan National Airport in northern Virginia will include a satellite campus for Virginia Tech University, are two of the larger projects moving through the design and approval process.

In recent years, New York’s Hudson Yards mega-project; LaGuardia Airport renovation and plans for a major expansion at JFK Airport; and the redevelopment of Penn Station; and a crazy amount of luxury condo construction grabbed most of the construction headlines in the Big Apple. While Manhattan’s construction scene has cooled off, the start last month of the $1.2-billion One Madison office tower and the upcoming $392-million renovation of the Long Island Railroad concourse at Penn Station will also offer major electrical construction potential.
