Southwire Completes Its Purchase Of Essex Electrical Products

Southwire Co., Carrollton, Ga., finalized its acquisition of the wire and cable assets of Essex Electrical Products, including Essex’s plant in Florence, Ala.

Southwire Co., Carrollton, Ga., finalized its acquisition of the wire and cable assets of Essex Electrical Products, including Essex’s plant in Florence, Ala.

Southwire will continue to operate the Florence plant, which manufacturers building wire used in residential, commercial and industrial construction.

"Today’s announcement is further evidence of Southwire’s commitment to making key investments that support our position as the leader in our core wire and cable markets," said Southwire President and CEO Stuart Thorn.

With its proximity to Southwire’s headquarters and copper rod manufacturing plant in Carrollton, Ga., the Florence plant fits perfectly into the company’s manufacturing and distribution network, according to Jack Carlson, president of Southwire’s Electrical Division.
