Cadillac Electric, a Premier Farnell Co. in Oak Park, Mich., shut its doors at the end of January. The company had about 20 employees.
The company, a distributor of electrical and industrial control products to manufacturers and OEMs, was closing because of the continued downturn in the automotive market and no foreseeable upturn, said Robert Ruoti, general manager, Cadillac Electric. The company said it would provide "full support" to its employees to find alternative employment in the local area.
The Hoffman Products business unit, which sells electrical terminals, connectors, cable ties and other electrical products and is currently co-located with Cadillac Electric, will remain within the Premier Farnell Group.
Cadillac Electric served customers in the Detroit and southeast Michigan area for more than 89 years.
