Siemens Energy and Automation, Alpharetta, Ga., will become the primary automation and controls vendor for Crum Electric Supply, Casper, Wyo., at that distributor’s locations in Rock Springs, Evanston, and Gillette, Wyo., and Rapid City, S.D.
Siemens will now be the main automation and controls vendor at 10 of Crum Electric Supply’s 12 locations. General Electric is the main automation vendor at the distributor’s other two branches.
“Siemens has been a strong supporter of Crum Electric Supply, and with the addition of these four markets it further strengthens our relationship, supports recent acquisitions and ongoing expansion efforts,” said Crum Electric Supply’s President Jeff Hockin.
Crum Electric took on the Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley line more than 20 years ago. A 1987 acquisition helped solidify the companies’ business relationship, but Hockin said Crum Electric carried Allen-Bradley at at least one location before that. Hockin does not know who will have the area of primary responsibility (APR) for Rockwell/Allen-Bradley in the markets where his company switched to Siemens.
Reaction from customers to the change to Siemens at the four locations has been positive, he said. “We obviously have a lot of work to do in the markets. But in general, they have been positive with us.”
