Schaedler Yesco Distribution, Inc. (SYD), Harrisburg, Pa., is expanding its “3 Under 1 Roof” strategy of teaming up with two other distributors of plumbing supplies and pipe, valves and fittings (PVF) to offer customers that need supplies from all three companies one-stop shopping in a single location.

This spring the company will open a new branch in Scranton, Pa., with APR Supply Company (APR), Lebanon, Pa., a plumbing distributor, and Industrial Piping Systems (IPS), York, Pa., a PVF supply house. According to a press release announcing the new location at 745 North Keyser Ave. in Scranton, the three companies now share 10 facilities throughout Pennsylvania. Six locations are “co-habited” by at least two of the partners and four include all three. The joint venture between Schaedler Yesco, APR Supply Co. and Industrial Piping Systems was launched in Oct. 2006 in Chambersburg, Pa. The press release said, “This business model is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania and specifically the wholesale industry. Customers oftentimes make purchases from each of the three distributors already so now they can find a large assortment of material needed for projects in one convenient location, experiencing a level of customer service that surpasses competition.”

The three companies are all members of the Affiliated Distributors (A-D) buying-marketing group.
