Grainger First-Quarter Profit Rises 19 Percent

W.W. Grainger Inc., Chicago, posted a 19 percent rise in first-quarter profit.

Earnings increased to $86.2 million from $72.8 million in the prior-year quarter. Sales rose 6 percent to $1.42 billion from $1.33 billion in the year-ago period.
