May 25, 2012
Lamp prices registered a 2.5%-increase this month and are up 3.9% YTY

Lamp prices registered a 2.5%-increase this month and are up 3.9% YTY. All other lighting products are also up YTY. With the exception of power wire & cable (+1.3%); residential lighting (+1.2%); and air conditioners (1.2%), no other product categories changed more than one percent. The year-over-year data shows that building wire (-7%) and power wire & cable (-1.4%) are currently still under last year’s pricing.

Note: All EPI series represent Global Insight aggregates of Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) producer price indices (PPIs). The revised data partly reflect redefinitions of specific PPIs by the BLS, but mostly reflect the rebenchmarking of all EPI price series to a 1997 base year. The four following EPI series have been affected by BLS redefinitions: boxes, conduit (fittings), nonmetallic conduit, and generators. Sources: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics; Global Insight
