Contractor Wages Tracking Higher in Busiest Construction Markets

According to county wage data published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics through 2Q 2016, high cost-of-living markets saw wages significantly over the U.S. national wage rate estimated at $27.25.

Electrical contractors in the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, New York and Philadelphia and Chicago markets have some of the highest hourly wages. According to county wage data published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics through 2Q 2016, these high cost-of-living markets, along with Williams County, ND, in the Bakken oil region  (#1 at $49.85 per hour) saw wages significantly over the U.S. national wage rate of $27.25 estimated by Electrical Marketing’s editors (see chart below for the top 50 counties in hourly wages for electrical contractors).
