Obituary: Herb Slater - Leader of Slater Electric and Duplex Electrical Supply

Slater, a well-known presence in electrical industry circles for decades as president of Slater Electric, Glen Cove, N.Y. and Duplex Electrical Supply, Port Washington, N.Y., passed away on Oct. 15 at age 84.

Herb Slater, a well-known presence in electrical industry circles for decades as president of Slater Electric, Glen Cove, N.Y. and Duplex Electrical Supply, Port Washington, N.Y., passed away on Oct. 15 at age 84.  He is survived by Rosalyn "Cookie" Slater; the father of Joshua Slater; and brother of Thomas Slater. Herb had two half brothers - Adam and Jonathan, and two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie, according to his obituary on www.legacy.com. While leading Slater Electric, Herb was awarded a patent related to the company’s line of wiring devices. Slater Electric was sold to Pass & Seymour in 1984. He started up Duplex Electrical Supply Corp., Port Washington, N.Y., in 1990, and served Long Island’s electrical contractors for years, before selling the company to U.S. Electrical Services, LLC (USESI), Exton, Pa., in 2006.
