GE's vision of the industrial internet

Some interesting posts out on the web over the past few days about a new GE report, “Industrial Internet: Pushing the Boundaries of Minds and Machines,” written by GE’s Chief Economist Marco Annunziata and GE’s Director of Global Strategy and Analytics Peter C. Evans.

The “industrial internet,” involves embedding sensors in a wide range of products from wind turbines to industrial controls to collect information about performance, maintenance issues and can act as an early-warning system for system malfunctions. This New York Times article and CNBC video interview with Annunziata, are particularly insightful.
