EYE Lighting International of North America, based in Mentor, Ohio, said it has acquired all assets related to the LED luminaire product lines from Aphos Lighting of Carrollton, Texas.

EYE Lighting International of North America, based in Mentor, Ohio, said it has acquired all assets related to the LED luminaire product lines from Aphos Lighting of Carrollton, Texas. The purchase price was not disclosed. EYE Lighting is the U.S. division of Japan’s Iwasaki Electric Co. Ltd.

EYE Lighting will assume production of Aphos brand LED luminaires in its own facility and market the products under the EYE Lighting brand name. EYE Lighting entered the LED luminaire market in 2011 with the introduction of kíaroLED, which has since earned a number of awards and accolades in the lighting industry.

Tom Salpietra, president and chief operating officer of EYE said in the press release announcing the acquisition, “Along with our fast-growing kíaroLED outdoor LED luminaire family, the Aphos product line creates greater scale for our business and strengthens our position and penetration in the fast-growing LED market.”

Aphos Lighting designs and manufactures commercial, industrial and architectural fixtures using “patent-pending solid-state technology,” according to the company’s pages on LinkedIn and Facebook. Its product lines include roadway, walkway, canopy and area lighting.

Iwasaki Electric is a specialist in lamps, luminaires and specialty optics for the commercial and retail, industrial, roadway, infrastructure, horticulture, automotive and solar materials testing markets. The company started in high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps and expanded into LEDs. Its EYE Lighting has 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space in the Cleveland area that includes a certified solid-state lighting testing facility. In July, it opened a 2,000-square-foot luminaire design and assembly center within its Mentor facility.
