Advance Transformer Co., a division of Philips Electronics North America Corp., has been selected by the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory to receive funding for future solid-state lighting product development activities.

Considered to be in strong alignment with the DOE’s own research and development plan for solid-state lighting, Philips Electronics North America and Advance’s proposed project was one of a select few accepted by the DOE for funding based on such other critical factors as energy savings potential, likelihood of success, and ability to help secure our nation’s energy future and technological leadership.

The award will fund nearly two-thirds of the cost of Advance’s activities toward development of an “Efficient LED System-in-Module for General Lighting Applications” over the coming three-year period.
