NorthEast Electrical Distributors/Sonepar USA (Brockton, Mass.): Nate Pedro is now energy solutions manager. With more than 10 years industry experience, including sales and commercial lighting, Pedro will assume responsibility for the development and implementation of the sales and marketing initiatives for NorthEast's external energy initiative.

GE Energy (Toronto, Ontario): The company has appointed former federal government and petroleum industry veteran Keith Triginer as its new country executive in Canada to oversee commercial initiatives in the region. In his new role, Triginer will be responsible for leading GE Energy's commercial strategy in Canada as the federal and provincial governments intensify their efforts to modernize the country's energy infrastructure, boost alternative energy production and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Prior to joining GE Energy, Triginer served as director of strategic policy and emerging issues in the oil, gas and alternative energy division of Environment Canada, the federal environmental agency in Ottawa. Before joining the federal government, Triginer served as vice president of industry issues for the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute after a 25-year career in energy business development with Siemens Canada, Foxboro and Esso.

Schréder Lighting USA (Elk Grove Village, Ill.): Michael Maltezos is now the company's Department of Transportation (DOT), transit and tunnel specialist. He will be responsible for overseeing lighting activities for transit and tunnel projects throughout the U.S. and Canada and will work very closely with municipalities, DOTs and transit agencies, as well as the specification lighting community, including lighting designers, architects and engineers. Prior to joining Schréder Lighting USA, he was an independent lighting designer and consultant based in Tampa, Fla., and served as senior associate for CTE Engineers Inc., and as project engineer and design engineer for McDonough Associates Inc., both based in Chicago.

Acuity Brands Lighting (Conyers, Ga.): John Selander, specification sales manager/architectural indoor, has been named president of the Illuminating Engineering Society for the 2010-2011 term. A 25-year member of the IES, Selander said new lighting technology such as LEDs demands a conservative approach to compete effectively with traditional lighting sources. “Companies need to either partner with companies doing research, pay fees to share intellectual property or hire a staff of scientists and engineers to develop their own solid-state lighting products,” he said. Selander holds a B.S. from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

Hayata Ltd. (Dallas): Steve Yap has been hired as sales manager-Asia in charge of Singapore's sales operations. In his new role, Yap will be responsible for leading the company's overall sales effort in the Asia-Pacific region, including strategic planning, new market development, and the management of existing clients. Hayata manufactures stainless-steel cable ties.
