Permlight Products and Progress Lighting will launch a complete line of patented LED residential lighting products under the name of HI-EFTM by summer 2006.

The joint development focuses on creating high- efficacy interior products that exceed rigorous energy standards outlined in California’s Title 24 and comply with California’s Title 22 household hazardous waste disposal laws.

"Progress Lighting believes now is the time for LED systems to illuminate our homes and not two to five years from now like most industry analysts predict," said Jim Decker, vice president of brand management for Progress Lighting.

The life span of an LED is more than 30,000 hours. Incandescent lamps last about 1,000 hours; halogens have a life of 2,000 to 4,000 hours; and compact fluorescent lamps last between 8,000 and 10,000 hours.

The complete product offering will be available through Progress Lighting distributors at launch.

Details about the HI-EFTM line and the launch date were not disclosed; however, Manuel Lynch, president and CEO of Permlight, said, "It will be much sooner than later and a much larger offering than most would expect."

Founded in 1995 with headquarters in Tustin, Calif., Permlight Products is a leading developer and manufacturer of thermally managed LED lighting systems.

Headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C., Progress Lighting, a division of Hubbell Inc., is one of the largest manufacturers of residential lighting products in North America, offering more than 4,300 lighting products.
