Lowe's to shutter lighting and fan warehouse in North Carolina

Lowe’s Inc., Mooresville, N.C., plans to shut down its National Lighting Distribution Center in Stokesdale, N.C., by the end of 2009 and lay off the warehouse’s 82 employees, according to reports by the Associated Press and in Greensboro, N.C.’s News-Record.

Layoffs at the facility, about 14 miles northwest of Greensboro, will start in August and be completed by Dec. 31. The nation’s second-largest home center chain plans to ship its lighting fixtures and ceiling fans through its network of regional distribution centers instead of a dedicated, centralized facility.
