Industry veterans found new rep agency in Raleigh
Mark Carter, David Buck and Bobby Jordan have founded Carter, Buck, Jordan & Associates, a new rep agency based in Raleigh, N.C. Carter is president of Wells Global and has more than 25 years of experience in electrical engineering design and construction with a primary focus on heavy industrial electrical and mission critical facilities. Buck retired from Graybar on Dec. 1 after 27 years in electrical distribution. He was branch manager of Graybar’s Raleigh office and also worked with the company in the Charlotte and Monroe, N.C., markets. Jordan will be retiring from State Electric on Dec. 31 and has more than 39 years of experience in electrical distribution. He served as president of Shepherd Electric Supply until Shepherd was acquired by State Electric and was president of the Shepherd Group of State Electric until the time of his retirement.
WinWholesale buys Texas’ Lloyd Graves Electrical Supply
WinWholesale Inc., Dayton, Ohio, has acquired Lloyd Graves Electrical Supply, Spring, Texas. The company, which serves electrical contractors in a 60-mile radius in a market area that includes Houston, is operating as Graves Winlectric.
A WinWholesale press release says Scott Hudson, former operations manager of the company, is the manager of Graves Winlectric. The late Lloyd Graves founded the company in Jan. 1973. Owner/president Bob Graves recently retired. The company has 14 employees with combined experience of 150 years who remain on the staff of Graves Winlectric. Winwholesale’s electrical operations are ranked #46 on Electrical Wholesaling’s Top 200 ranking.
United Electric Supply purchases Ealer as 16th location
United Electric Supply Co., New Castle, Del., recently announced the opening of its newest branch location in Easton, Pa., after acquiring Ealer Electric on Dec. 4, the company’s 16th location.
Belden buys manufacturer of broadband products
Belden Inc., St. Louis, has acquired privately held PPC, a provider of broadband connectivity solutions headquartered in Syracuse, N.Y., for $515.7 million. The company, which had 2012 revenues of approximately $238 million, manufactures advanced connectivity technologies for the broadband service provider market.
Siemens wins $315 million contract from Army
Siemens Government Technologies Inc. has been selected as an award recipient for the Army Maintenance Services (AMS) contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The contract has a shared capacity of $315 million over a period of one base year and four option years. As an awardee, the AMS Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) provides a contract for Siemens to conduct long-term, managed services projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ customers involving the maintenance and repair of electronic security, access control point, utility monitoring and control, physical security systems and other related systems. Work will be performed in the U.S. and at U.S. facilities overseas.
EMCOR subsidiary wins contract at Fort Benning
EMCOR Group Inc. Norwalk, Conn., says its Dynalectric subsidiary recently won contracts for the installation of electrical systems at the new Resiliency Campus at Fort Benning, Ga. Dynalectric will install several different electrical systems in two buildings at Fort Benning’s new Resiliency Campus. Dynalectric will manage a complete electrical and telecommunications reinstallation, as well as the installation of LED lighting and a digital lighting control system, a new fire alarm system, a lightning protection system, a new telecommunications riser, and upgraded electrical distribution.
