IESC becomes Rexel
Rexel has moved to reorganize the branding for its U.S. operations. The Paris-based electrical distribution giant announced that its U.S. business, headquartered in Dallas and previously known as International Electric Supply Corp. (IESC) will now carry the name Rexel Holdings USA. The company is keeping its “customer-facing” brands Rexel, Gexpro, Gexpro Services, Capitol Light & Supply and Parts Super Center.
Border States Electric's Lubbock branch moves to new digs
Border States Electric (BSE), Fargo, N.D., announced that its Lubbock, Texas, branch located at 2425 Texas Ave. has moved to a new location. The new facility is located at 520 East 50th in Lubbock. The branch phone and fax numbers remain the same. The branch had been at its previous location since the late 1950s. The new location has 9,620 square feet for office and 25,200 square feet for the warehouse. “We are committed to saving our customers time and money. With more warehouse space and a well-stocked counter area, our customers will have greater access to the materials they're looking for,” said Kirk McLeod, branch operations manager. The Lubbock branch at 5902 Spur 327, acquired by BSE in April 2006 as a part of the purchase agreement with Nunn Electric Supply Corp., is not affected by this move.
CED and Light Emitting Designs light Illinois train station with LEDs
The Crystal Lake, Ill., branch of Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. (CED) worked with Light Emitting Designs, Barrington, Ill., to light the Cary, Ill., Metrarail train station. “LED solutions for commercial and industrial applications have reached mainstream status for us,” said CED manager Ethan Fackler. “In commercial applications where lights are operating twelve hours a day, reducing wattage to 35W from 175W means significant energy savings.” The Crystal Lake CED will be holding an Energy Expo in April.
EMCOR wins bid for retrofit at University of Pennsylvania
EMCOR's Services Scalise Industries subsidiary won a contract for installation of all electrical systems in an addition to Salk Hall at the University of Pittsburgh. EMCOR Services Scalise will install all electrical systems for an 81,000-square-foot addition that will add laboratory and administrative space to the School of Dental Medicine's Center. The work includes extension of existing site utilities, installation of new switchgear and installation of a new emergency generator.
Friedman Electric adds solar to Energy Solutions
Friedman Electric, Exeter, Pa., recently expanded its Energy Solutions Division to include a solar specialist, and has completed installation on a 30kW photovoltaic (PV) solar system at its corporate headquarters in Exeter. The system will showcase all of the solar products stocked by the company while producing power to help run the company's operations. The solar system is the first to be installed on a Sonepar operating company in the U.S. The system is a ballasted roof-mount setup featuring 132 Trina PV modules and three 10K SMA Sunny Boy inverters.
