Arnold J. Young Jr., co-founder of Young & Champagne Co., a manufacturer’s rep firm in Detroit, passed away July 8. He was 87 years old.

In 1962, Arnold Young and Louis Champagne merged their individual electrical representative firms to establish Young & Champagne Co. The company joined the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA) in early 1970 as a charter member. Young served as a member of the board of governors and the executive committee. He was chairman of NEMRA from 1982 to 1983. As part of his duties as chairman of the association, he led the formation of the NEMRA Manufacturers Group.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Michael; daughter, Jill Siarto; four grandchildren Jeffery, Jason, Mathew and Cathryn; and sister, Barbara Smith. His brothers, Roger and William; and his sister, Virginia Hartner, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 30400 Telegraph Road, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
