Electrical Price Index Shows a +0.2 Increase in July

Aug. 25, 2017
Quite a few products showed year-over-year increases of more than 1%.
Electrical Marketing’s Electrical Price Index (EPI), showed another slight increase in July and was up 0.5% year-over-year. Power Wire & Cable (+3.3%); Industrial Fixtures (+1.2%); and Motors (+1.6%) led all product categories. None of the categories showed declines of more than one percent. Quite a few products showed year-over-year increases of more than 1%, lead by air conditioners (+3.8%).

Note: All EPI series represent Global Insight aggregates of Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) producer price indices (PPIs). The revised data partly reflect redefinitions of specific PPIs by the BLS, but mostly reflect the rebenchmarking of all EPI price series to a 1997 base year. The four following EPI series have been affected by BLS redefinitions: boxes, conduit (fittings), nonmetallic conduit, and generators. Sources: U.S. Bureau of  Labor  Statistics; Global Insight
