Sonepar Acquires Electrical Distributors in Texas

March 17, 2015
Founded in 2008, with locations in both Irving and Houston, Texas, ED is an independently-owned and operated electrical supply company that serves the electrical contractor, industrial, institutional and end-user markets.

Sonepar USA, Philadelphia, said Electrical Distributors (ED), Irving, Texas, has signed an agreement to join Sonepar USA. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2008, with locations in both Irving and Houston, Texas, ED is an independently-owned and operated electrical supply company that serves the electrical contractor, industrial, institutional and end-user markets. ED offers a variety of value-added services such as kitting, inventory replenishment, storage and after hours support.

ED will continue to operate as a standalone brand, reporting to Sonepar USA. Halsey Cook, president of Sonepar USA, said in a release. “We are excited to have ED join the Sonepar USA family. I want to welcome Tim Cappelli, chairman/CFO and Martin Martinez, president, as well as all ED associates, to the Sonepar USA team.”

Sonepar’s acquisition team is always busy, and last week announced another major acquisition, adding QED, Denver, to its collection. Sonepar also owns Crawford Electric Supply, which it acquired in 2007, with operations in 23 locations throughout Texas and five more in Louisiana.
