Amazon Prime Day Sets Sales Record

Amazon grew its overall sales by 60% year-over-year during the 30-hour Prime Day and that Amazon Prime’s total sales during that period were an estimated $2.88 billion.

If you listened really closely, you may have heard billions of mouse clicks and tablet taps this past Tuesday on Amazon Prime Day, which has quickly turned into one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. An Internet Retailer post at www.digitalcommerce360.com said Amazon grew its overall sales by 60% year-over-year during the 30-hour Prime Day and that Amazon Prime’s total sales during that period were an estimated $2.88 billion. What may be of even more interest to distributors with online storefronts and other web retailers is that some online shopping experts believe Amazon is priming the online sales pump by “training” customers to expect big sales on Amazon Prime day, not only on its website, but also on other sites, as shoppers hop around looking for the best deals.
