Electrical People - Pappas Retires from Coleman Cable/Southwire

Arlington Industries (Scranton, Pa.): Stephen Hayes was hired as Southern Regional Manager and will work with the company’s independent sales representative agencies in promoting and selling Arlington’s products to distributors, end users and installers from North Carolina to Texas.

Coleman Cable/Southwire (Waukegan, Ill.): John Pappas, Coleman Cable’s senior V.P.-corporate marketing, is retiring from the company after a 30-year career. Pappas joined Coleman Cable as national sales manager in 1984 and has served the company in a variety of senior leadership positions throughout the years. While overseeing Coleman Cable’s corporate marketing initiatives, Pappas also has led its electrical distribution, OEM and U.S. retail businesses for substantial periods during his career.

He has also been assisting with the transition and integration between Coleman Cable and Southwire since the completion of the tender offer. Since 1992, Pappas has been an adjunct professor at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, where he received the Distinguished Faculty Award in 2000, 2008 and 2014. He serves as an officer on the school’s board of directors and leads the marketing faculty in his role as bench facilitator.

Arlington Industries (Scranton, Pa.): Stephen Hayes was hired as Southern Regional Manager and will work with the company’s independent sales representative agencies in promoting and selling Arlington’s products to distributors, end users and installers from North Carolina to Texas. Hayes has worked in the electrical industry since 1987, most recently as Southeast Regional Manager for Burndy.  Prior to that he spent 11 years with BE&K Engineering & Construction. He, his wife Kathleen, and children reside in the Birmingham, Ala., area.

Appleton Group/Emerson Industrial Automation, (Rosemont, Ill.): Bob Sturkey will take on the new role of national accounts manager for its SolaHD division, maker of transformers, power supplies and power conditioning equipment. Sturkey will be responsible for leading the SolaHD sales efforts at key national end-user accounts and at other Emerson divisions.

Sturkey has an extensive background in automation, controls, power supplies and transformers.  He has held a variety of regional and national sales management positions in his more than 25 years of electrical industry sales experience. Most recently, he was regional sales manager for automation components manufacturer Carlo Gavazzi. Before that, he was regional sales manager for PULS, Inc. a maker of power supplies and UPS systems. Sturkey will be based in Rosemont and will report directly to VP of sales Tom Pankratz.

North Central Electrical League Inc. (NCEL) (Bloomington, Minn.): Dan Paulson, principal and CFO, Paulson & Clark Engineers Inc., White Bear Lake, Minn., was elected as the NCEL’s chairman at its board of directors meeting. Paulson leads Paulson & Clark Engineers’ electrical department and also serves as partner and CFO. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D., with a BSEEE, Electrical & Electronics Engineering degree, and a member of NDSU’s national champion football teams of 1985, 1986 and 1988. Paulson and his family live in the East Metro of the Twin Cities. He succeeds Chuck Healy, Electrotech Inc., as the NCEL Chairman. Paulson will serve as chair in leading the NCEL through Aug. 2016.
