July 11, 2014
Amato named Exec VP of Hubbell Electrical; Weaver named VP of sales for Halco; a shakeup at Cree and more...

Hubbell Lighting (Greenville, S.C.): Effective Sept. 30, Scott Muse, the president of Hubbell Lighting, will be retiring from the company after a 35-year career in the electrical industry and having served in his current role since April 2002. David Nord, Hubbell’s chairman, president and CEO, said that during his tenure as president Muse acquired seven lighting brands, executed major restructuring to significantly reduce costs and increased the company’s  competitive position.

In a related move, Gary Amato was appointed to the newly created position of executive V.P. Hubbell Electrical Segment and will be responsible for overseeing the Hubbell Lighting businesses in addition to his current leadership role over the Hubbell Electrical Systems businesses. He has led the Electrical Systems businesses for the past seven years, and has held key operational leadership positions spanning his 26 year career at Hubbell. Prior to Hubbell, Amato spent 15 years in positions of increasing responsibility with Allen Bradley-Rockwell Automation.

Novinium (Seattle): This supplier of full spectrum electrical cable-rejuvenation products has hired Lisa Loos as the company’s new marketing specialist.  She will assist with the company’s marketing execution, including campaign management, proposal submissions, CRM database administration as well as website design and maintenance. Loos has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and sales, having previously worked for SafeWorks and Microsoft Corp.  She holds a BA in business administration from Gonzaga.

Legrand (Harrisburg, Pa.): Steve Iommi has been hired as product manager and will manage the company’s On-Q home automation and RF lighting control product lines. He brings almost 30 years of home automation and control experience to his position at Legrand, most recently as the business and product development manager for Somfy Systems, a maker of automatic control solutions for window coverings.

Halco Lighting Technologies (Norcross, Ga.):  Ed Weaver is now the company’s  V.P. of sales. He has 19 years of industry sales experience. Before joining Halco, Weaver spent 15 years with Acuity Brands, first as a regional sales manager and then working his way through various roles leading to V.P. of sales and marketing and V.P. and general manager of the Electrical Distribution channel. His most recent experience was with Switch Lighting as senior V.P. of North American sales. He holds a bachelor’s of science in economics from the University of Florida.

Calpipe Industries, Inc. (Rancho Domínguez, Calif.): Mike Lang is now product manager for the Calbond and Calconduit brands. He will be responsible for collaborating and driving solutions across development teams in engineering, manufacturing and sales and specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers.

Cree Inc. (Durham, N.C.): An article in the Triangle Business Journal says Ron Swoboda, Cree’s CEO  has over the past few months replaced the heads of sales for the lighting division and components division — two areas that make up 45% and 50% of Cree’s revenue, respectively. The article said Revolution Lighting Technology veteran Mike Bauer, who helmed Cree’s lighting division, was replaced with Steve Barlow, an executive with a history of component sales at Intematix and Philips Lumileds and that Bruce Renouard was replaced by a Cree veteran, Mark McClear, in components.
